Prof. Agnes Förster

Agnes Förster, born in 1976 in Jena, has been teaching as a university professor for planning theory and urban development at the Faculty of Architecture at RWTH Aachen University since 2018. Her focus is the urban transformation with its spatial, economic and social issues. She researches innovative methods and instruments of urban development as well as transformation processes along future urban issues such as living, working and mobility.

Since 2014 Agnes Förster has been running the Munich office STUDIO | STADT | REGION  together with Jan Kurz . STUDIO | STADT | REGION designs spaces and processes and develops synergies between the two perspectives of architecture and urban planning.

Förster studied architecture at the TU Munich and at the EPF Lausanne. From 2003 to 2019 she was a partner at 4architekten in Munich and taught at various universities. From 2010 to 2014 she did her dissertation on the subject »Making planning processes more effective. Effects, building blocks, manipulated variables of communicative planning methods«. Agnes Förster is a member of the German Academy for Urban Development and Regional Planning (DASL), the advisory board of GEWOFAG Holding GmbH, a member of the board of trustees of IBA’27 StadtRegion Stuttgart and the Deutscher Werkbund Bayern e.V.
